Anyone visiting Italy should plan some time at beautiful Lake Garda. The largest lake in Italy, it lies between Venice and Milan in northern Italy. With it's beautiful beaches to the south and cliffs along the northern shore, Lake Garda is a destination with something for everyone.

If you love water sports, Lake Garda's clear waters are an ideal spot for swimming, sailing and windsurfing. If you are more of a hiker, you will enjoy the many parks and gardens available. During summer months, ferries are available to travel from the southern beaches to the northern cliffs, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Among the travel destinations around Lake Garda is Il Vittoriale, the home of the eccentric poet Gabriele d'Annunzio. The site contains more than just a house. Along with its buildings, streets and gardens, you'll see the fantastic, eccentric and just plain odd collections of d'Annunzio. Il Vittoriale is a great family destination with content that will fascinate young and old alike.

The Heller Garden is also a site not to be missed in the Lake Garda region. In addition to the lush tropical gardens to be found here, Heller Garden also displays works of modern art tucked in among the plants. The gardens boast over 500 species of plants located in recreations of their natural environment.
